An experienced Electrical Installation Engineer is required to deliver training to apprentices in the Medway area.


Key Duties:

Instruct and demonstrate to trainees by oral, visual, and/or other means the craft of Electrician and/or on allied subjects.
Preparing lectures and lessons, class work, homework, theoretical and practical examination tests to National and Army Department standards.
Proposing, and where appropriate, preparing devices, diagrams models etc for use in instruction and demonstration.
Control and supervise trainees under their charge, including responsibility for their safety, discipline and quality and quantity of output.
Maintaining the agreed records required for trainees' assessment and any other management purposes (course reports, NVQs, trade boards etc).
Supervising and ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, workshops and other instructional areas, including the equipment for which the Instructor and trainees are responsible.
Maintaining suitable and current knowledge of electrical techniques and advancements.
Act as a substitute for the Programme Area Leader (PAL) in their absence.
Carry out department security duties as required.
Writing trainees' disciplinary reports in a timely manner.
Conform to Standing Orders for the department and training establishment in general and for the classrooms and workshops in particular.
Duties ancillary to instruction, such as invigilating, correcting, progress tests and other tasks appropriate to the grade.
Visit trainees when on work placements for assessment and mentoring.
Be prepared to work at other locations as required.
Participate in the classroom observation and appraisal scheme as required.

Essential Training:

There is a requirement to attend and pass the "Defence Instructor Techniques" and a 10-day Staff Leadership School course.
Successfully complete a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector within three years of commencing the post - my client will help with this but applicants need to show that they are willing.


Essential Experience / Skills:

APPLICANTS DO NOT NEED ANY PREVIOUS TEACHING EXPERIENCE!

Applicants MUST hold qualification certificates in either both or one of the following:

* City and Guilds 236 Part 3 Course C and / or a relevant Electrical Trade Apprenticeship.

Desirable Experience / Skills:

It would be desirable - although not essential for applicants to hold certificates in ONC Electrical Engineering / Royal Engineers Class 1 electrician RE or qualified to the current edition of the IEE requirements for electrical installations.
